Editorial review:

A beer baron built and named this amazingly appointed Downtown hotel in 1912, and left a great legacy behind. The French Room restaurant is one of the best in Dallas (voted no.1 in the Texas Restaurant Survey), the staff is exemplary, the rooms have an old world mystique about them, but still include WiFi and flat- panel TVs, and all this is brought together by the overall exquisite decor employed in the hotel.

Verified Reviews:

  • Quality linens and terre spa toiletries - Food was delicious - Staff were extremely helpful
  • Rooms were very spacious - Beds and pillows were very comfortable - Breakfast was hot and tasty
  • Wi-fi in all the guest rooms and public areas - Staff was less than friendly - Bar is awesome and has live jazz on the weekend
  • Had no water pressure problems - Walk-in closet/dressing room was terrific - Bistro and french room are also delicious
  • Bed was supremely comfortable - Bathroom is all marble and granite - Rooms are very spacious - Staff is excellent

      Beautiful, historic hotel.

I requested as high a room as possible, received the lowest room possible with a terrible view.

The Hotel is great and would deserve a better score except for the points I will cover in the complaints space. So the good, great older hotel with lot's of character. Great downtown location, easy walk to other resturants, easy acess to highways if you need to travel out to other areas. The staff was very friendly and professional, the bar was quiet and intimate. The French Room resturant in the hotel was one of if not the best dining experience we have ever had. All in all a great hotel except.........

The hotel has a real problem with housekeeping. I don't know if they need to add staff or equipment but getting fresh towels, having your room cleaned was a major frustration to the point that it made a great hotel and staff seem like a two star hotel. We needed additional towels our first day, we talked to seven different people before towels were finally delivered. Our third day, we left the hotel about 11:30 and returned at 5:00 to find our room had not been cleaned. We talked to three different people and finally had to get ready for dinner without a shower due to no fresh towels. After complaining at the desk again, the room was cleaned while we were at dinner sometime after 8:00 pm. All problems that you don't expect to deal with at a "luxury" hotel. We would most likely stay at another downtown hotel our next trip to Dallas. By the way, we heard other travelers complaining about the housekeeping as well so I don't believe the issue is isolated.

      Traditional upscale downtown hotel.

Sitting area of suite consisted of one well-used chair - Nothing else.

      Good hotel in downtown

Downtown in weekends is not the best place with not many people on the streets and a lot of them a bit suspect

The surroundings in downtown Dallas. Located close to family we were visiting for the weekend. The lobby environment was wonderfully preserved and clean.

The check in desk employees were rude and lacked any kind of courtesy. They need trained to be gracious to those of us spending money to stay in your facility. Also, your parking situation was completely outrageous and expensive. Even if we didn't have to wait over 30 minutes for our vehicle it was priced too high for someone already paying for a room. Also, our room was in poor condition. Everything looked old and tired, stained and icky. We will be driving further to see our son but will find a new hotel to stay in when we are visiting him.

Hotel staff were most courteous and pleasant. The Afternoon Tea was wonderful and elegant.

We couldn't receive phone calls in our room. We had people trying to reach us and evidently it just kept ringing but not in the room. We advised hotel staff twice and they sent someone to repair it but it never was working. The last night of our stay, we didn't notice until morning but we had no bath towels in our room and had to call housekeeping.

Food & wine in the French Room is amazing

Elevator inspection certificates are out of date, and overdue!

This is a beautiful oldy-worldy hotel with a lot of old world charm. The rooms are large and well furnished, free internet and a huge lounge area with big sofas to fall into.

My main disappointment was not the hotel but Dallas itself! The art museum was fantastic and the 6th floor museum was very interesting but the area within a significant walking distance of the hotel has little to offer- and this is the heart of the city! To get to the main shops (Northwood Centre Mall) is a 25$ taxi ride!

We've loved the Adolphus for many years. It's charm has only slightly faded and we hope to stay there many more times. In addition, we thought the food was excellent.

With one exception, the staff was wonderful. It seems, now that a 20% gratuity plus $2.50 delivery fee is automatically added to room service fees, most of the room service staff expected us to add additional gratuity, and seemed a bit pouty when we didn'T.

Very nice and clean. Great location for our event

All good. The overnight parking fee could have been mentioned in advance.
